Read Your Way Out–To a Better Life–With the Triple Option and the Midline Option

The Triple Option Offense is more than a formation.

Triple Option also means that you read your way out 40 percent of the time.

So, are you going to read Defensive Linemen or block them?

Georgia Tech and Navy run Triple and Midline 40 percent of the time, based on their own statistical analysis over an extended period of time.

The ONLY time Georgia Tech/Navy block everyone is to take advantage of an overactive Inside Linebacker on the Triple or the Midline Option.  Examples of this are the following: Zone Dive, Rocket, and Counter Option.  Then, after they make the Inside Linebacker’s pay for their over-activity, the Tech/Navy Offense goes right back to running Triple and or Midline Option.

Stop enabling your Quarterback.  Make the Quarterback read his way out to allow the other ten players and especially the Offensive Line live a better life by blocking less Defensive Linemen.

Coach, I am asking for a serious call to action in this case–Are you willing to read your way out at least 40 percent of the time?  Take a serious look at your playcalling and figure it out.  If you’re not having success, now you probably know why.  Give your offense the advantage it needs.
