Intrinsic motivation refers to behavior that is driven by internal rewards. In other words, the motivation to engage in a behavior arises from within the individual because it is intrinsically rewarding. This contrasts with extrinsic motivation, which involves engaging in a behavior in order to earn external rewards or avoid punishments.
There are ways to improving the level of intrinsic motivation in Triple Option-specific football players.
Here’s how:
1- Progress tracking
Determine through observation the urgency level in athlete’s scoops, ace blocks, cutoff blocks, and blocking #3.
2- Identifying strengths, weaknesses, and preferences
What can the player do to help our Triple Option Offense?
3- Developing decision-making skills
This goes beyond just the Quarterback reading #1 and pitching #2. The Playside A must read #3 on the run, the Playside Tackle must veer into whoever invades his personal space, and the backside must scoop any threat in their gap.
4- Identifying responsibilities
Transparently define assignments and the technique to complete the assignments.
5- Anticipating consequences
Always coach the worst case scenario on every technique.
6- Developing communication skills
Always seek to find ways to provide players information on how to technique their assignment.
7- Accessing resources and support
This is where the Triple Option Football Academy comes into play.
8- Experiencing and learning from outcomes
Video of practice and games of Triple Option Offensive performance must be utilized.
