Recent research through the University of Montana indicates that Quarterback need more Triple Option repetitions in practice and they need more situational football to lower the intensity of implicit drill work.
A study in the Perceptual and Motor skills Journal concluded that short-duration, high-intensity exercise has a negative effect on accuracy in a sports-specific task that requires both perceptual judgment and motor control. This is an accurate depiction of the Triple Option Quarterback.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of one bout and three intermittent bouts of short-duration, high-intensity movement on the performance of a sports-specific psychomotor skill.
Movement accuracy showed a significant linear deterioration, while number of moves showed a significant quadratic effect. Low to moderate linear regression correlations were found between posttest heart rate and absolute and variable errors on the test.
Triple Option Quarterbacks need a long period to read #1 and pitch #2… and they need varying situations doing so.
