When placed in 3rd and short situations, the following is how to best get the first down in the Triple Option Offense:

Heavy Follow v Bear (Triple Option Football Academy)

Heavy Follow v Bear (Triple Option Football Academy).  This gives the Offense an extra gap and a lead blocker to get the extra yard.

 

 

Heavy Rocket.  If the defense is blitzing or playing their linebackers close to thwart the potential Quarterback Sneak or Follow, Toss the ball outside to get the first down.

Triple Pass on 3rd and short, especially if the Offense is in two-down territory.

Quarterback Sneak out of Heavy or Spread is a viable 3rd and short concept as well… especially in two-down territory.

This is the thought process best utilized when running the Triple Option Offense on 3rd and short.
