February 27, 2015
- Constantly provide players with the information process on how to technique assignments.
- The best coach makes the fewest mistakes.
- Planning is valuable-time use, so hold to time schedule.
- Too long on any one thing produces boredom, and when boredom comes in, learning goes out as football players have a short attention span.
- Teach assignments off-field/correct mistakes on-field.
- How long to practice is judgment, and if one coach feels practice is too long, cut down–you are not going to change mechanical ability late in season.
- More boys play poorly because they practiced too long than boys playing poorly because they practiced too short.
- How much can a boy learn from verbal instruction with his helmet on as he’s breathing hard?
- Football is played inside-out.
- Discipline is the training of mind/character for players to do their job and create team success.
