Paul Johnson says not to worry about how many defenders tackle the B-Back on Triple Option.
This is due to the fact that if #1 cancels the B-Back on the Triple Option, the B-Back won’t have the football.
Bottom Line: Focus on how #1 is playing the Triple Option. Is he canceling the B-Back or not?
If he is, fake the Triple and throw the ball down the field because when #1 cancels the B, the secondary has to come up to play the Quarterback/Pitch. This way you make them pay because they sacrifice pass coverage for run support.
If not, toss the ball or execute a double option (Zone Option is what Navy utilizes) to get the ball kicked on the perimeter.
