The Triple Option B-Backs Five Crucial Movements
January 12, 2014
In the Triple Option Offense, the B-Back has a total of five movements.
All of these movements are crucial to Triple Option success.
These five movements are the following:
1- Veer Path
3-on-3 Drill in practicing the Triple Option. Here, the B-Back runs his Veer Path, and bends behind the 0-technique if the 0-technique ends up on the dive path.
2- Mid Path
The B-Back’s Mid Path is demonstrated here.
3- #3
Zone Option versus Odd Stack.
B- #3
4- Pass Path
Triple Pass v. 4-3 Cover 2
The Offensive Line slides away from the call, the B-back blocks the 1st threat off the Playside Tackle and the Backside A runs the pitch route and kicks out the first threat off the B.
The Backside Receiver runs a 17-yard drag.
5- Sprint Path
Sprint Right versus Odd Stack. Here, the B-Back takes four steps through the Playside Guard, flattens out and blocks the 1st threat off the Playside A.
These are the five movements the B-Back must master to succeed in the Triple Option Offense.
