Does the Flexbone Triple Option fit into the coach’s overall plan? If running this offense requires a complete philosophical overhaul, the coach won’t commit—unless the alternative (e.g., losing, getting fired, or constant frustration) is far worse. The system must align with the natural, existing forces inside and outside of the coach’s world: their coaching philosophy, available personnel, and long-term vision for their program.
The most important thing to understand about coaching sales is that it’s a disqualification process, not a convincing process. The goal isn’t to persuade resistant coaches—it’s to find the ones already aligned with the system’s benefits. Identify the ones truly willing to run the ball, commit to execution, and develop a culture of disciplined, assignment-based football.
Step past the “scheme hoppers” and the ones who aren’t willing to fully commit. Focus only on the coaches who are serious about winning with the Flexbone. This approach follows the 80/20 rule—most coaches aren’t the right fit, but the small percentage who are will see massive success. When you get clear on this, you’ll be working with the top 1%—the coaches who are ready to dominate with the Triple Option.
