Running Triple Option to the Nub Side versus the Odd Stack (3-3-5/3-5-3/5-3)

In the Triple Option Football Academy’s most recent article, demonstrated was how to run the Triple Option to the Over side versus the Odd Stack.

This is done when the defense fails to bring someone from the backside to the over side in order to even out the numbers in the run game.

Now, we are going to look at when the defense DOES move someone from the backside to the playside (this is what colleges do when they understand the vulnerabilities created by OVER BROWN.

When the numbers are balanced in OVER, the ideal place to go with the football is the NUB side.

This is because the overhang has to be the primary and secondary force player.

If the overhang gets blocked, the pitch man has nobody to tackle him unless the Free Safety can beat the Playside Tackle’s block (good luck).

Here is how Triple is run to the NUB side when the defense brings someone from the backside to the over side.

OVER is a great way to take advantage of 8-man front teams and make them declare what they want to do.
