College Athletic Directors! Hire Ashley Ingram as your Head Football Coach Today!

Quite frankly, the best Triple Option Football  Coach in the world is Ashley Ingram.

Yes, you heard it here first… and with the utmost authority.

Currently, Ashley Ingram is the Run Game Coordinator at the Naval Academy.

His father, Alan Ingram is the Head Football Coach at Seminole County High School (GA), runs the Triple Option as his base offense, and went 11-1 this season, the best record in school history.

Ashley’s brother, Rob Ingram, is the Head Football Coach at Riverwood Charter School in Atlanta.  Rob runs the Triple Option as his base offense, and in 2013, Riverwood had their best season in well over a decade.

There’s a special place in heaven for the Ingram family.

I met Ashley Ingram when he was an Assistant Coach at Bucknell University in Lewisburg (PA) in 2006.  Bucknell is 90 minutes from where I reside, and I was a college coach looking to discuss the Under-Center Triple Option with other knowledgeable college coaches.  Ashley came from the University of Rhode Island, where he worked under Tim Stowers, a National Championship Head Triple Option Coach when Tim was at Georgia Southern.

Ashley, a proud University of North Alabama graduate, educated me on concepts that were relatively new to me at the time.  The Zone Dive and Zone Belly were relatively new concepts to the Triple Option offense.  Ashley educated me on all the ins-and-outs of the Triple Option.  He knew more about how to block each concept than any coach I have ever met.  His communication methods were unique to me as he had transparent actions for all five offensive line positions.

But, it was how he connected with people that makes Ashley special.

I watched how he interacted with players, and I watched how the entire offense rallied around Ashley.

He guided Bucknell as Offensive Coordinator for two seasons and had really good success.  There was no doubt he was destined for more.

In 2008, when Ken Niumatalolo was promoted to Head Football Coach at Navy, Coach Niumatalolo hired Ashley as the Centers and Guards Coach.

Since then, Navy has lead the nation in rushing multiple years and has gone to bowl games in five of Ashley’s six seasons–all with no athletic scholarship players on the Naval Academy roster.

In 2011, I was contacted by Alan Ingram about running one of my Triple Option football camps at his son’s high school (Riverwood Charter).  Alan told me that his team (Seminole County) and Rob’s team would be the two schools in attendance.

This is where I became a member of the Ingram family.

I taught them the finer points of the Triple Option offense and worked out their players for three days on all the vital alignments, assignments, and techniques.

Rob and Alan taught me about humility, hospitality, and honor.

At the end of 2011, Alan had his best season in Seminole County school history, Rob led Riverwood to their best season in many, many years, and I found a second family.

In the Spring of 2013, Ashley was offered the position at an FCS university.  He turned down their offer.

Soon after, Navy decided to make Ashley Ingram, the Offensive Run Game Coordinator.

This was obviously well-deserved.

On June 19th,  my father lost his battle with Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a form of skin cancer.  Dad was only 67.

The first person I contacted was my best friend, and the individual who lead me to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, Michael Manassy.

The second person was Alan Ingram.

Here is what I told Alan an hour after my Dad passed away.

“My Dad passed away an hour ago…  You just became my official Dad…”

Alan comforted me, told me to rely on God, and accepted my request to fill in for Dad until we get to heaven.

Rob contacted me within a few minutes  of Alan… I mean… DAD’S connection.

As I was driving home from the hospital, I got another text message… this time from Ashley.

Ashley told me that I was family and if I need ANYTHING, get back at him immediately.

All three of the Ingram men contacted me during the first two hours of my life without my Dad.

They elevated my quality of life from that point forward.
