In 2013, after working with Triple Option Football Academy Owner, Dr. Lou Cella, Cashmere High School (WA) broke the school record for rushing yards, broke the school record for total offensive yards, and went to the class A state semifinals. “We set a new school record for rushing yards and total offensive yards as we reached the semi-final game of our State Tournament. Before the 2011 season, Hollister San Benito HS (CA) had not won their conference championship, the TCAL, in seven (7) years. In 2011, after running a camp with Lou Cella as Camp Director, Hollister San Benito HS (CA) won the TCAL Conference Championship, went undefeated in conference play, and made it to the CIF Division 1 Quarterfinals. “Lou came out to Hollister, California and put on a great camp for our team–and having Lou, who is truly an unparalleled expert in this field, work directly with our players was simply invaluable. In addition, Lou provided our entire coaching staff with an intensive, exceptional on-the-field clinic. Before the 2010 season, Falls City HS (TX) had never won a regional championship in school history. In 2010, after running a camp with Lou Cella as Camp Director, Falls City HS (TX) won the Regional and State Championship for the first time in school history in Texas while scoring 680 points in 15 games. “The biggest thing for us is that it gave our kids the opportunity to work together in our offensive system before the season started–the techniques and fundamentals they learned was so big, so was the team bonding, and so was having an outside source (Lou Cella) teaching them–this was invaluable.” –Mark Kirchhoff, Head Football Coach, Falls City (TX).
In 2013, after working with Triple Option Football Academy Owner, Lou Cella, Hereford HS (MD) won the Baltimore County Division I Football Conference Championship in Head Coach Steve Turnbaugh’s final season as Head Football Coach. After Hereford’s seventh-straight win in 2013, Steve retired after a 19-year career coaching his son, Brock, and coaching at his alma mater. “I picked up more during those sessions with Lou than I ever could imagine. In 2010, Timmonsville HS (SC) was running the Spread Offense and finished the 2010 season with a 1-9 record. In 2011, Petaluma (CA) was 1-9 under Petaluma Alum and longtime coach, Rick Krist. In 2012, after running a camp with Lou Cella as Camp Director, Petaluma ends the season with four (4) wins. “We had Lou come to the school. In 2009 and 2010, Poland Regional HS (ME) won a grand total of two games. The school hired Head Football Coach, Ted Tibbetts, less than two months before the start of training camp. In 2011, after running a camp with Lou Cella as Camp Director, Poland Regional HS (ME), earned the best winning percentage in school history, won twice as many games as they had the previous two seasons and broke school records for rushing, passing, and points scored. “Lou did a great job preparing players and coaching staff for the season. Two State Semifinalists, A State Finalist, and a State Champion in Texas have Come out of Dr. Cella’s Triple Option Football System Over the Last Four Years
Triple Option Football Academy Owner, Dr. Lou Cella, is a Sports Performance Specialist, and a 20-year coaching veteran of the college and high school level.
Over the last five years, Dr. Cella assisted in the turnaround of numerous high school football programs through his triple option-based camp system. Just months after Dr. Cella served as camp director, Cashmere (WA) and Timmonsville (SC) went to the state semifinals, Bayfield (CO) went to the state championship game, and Falls City (TX) won their first regional and first state championship in school history.
In addition, Hereford (MD), Johnson (NJ), Lakewood (SC), Petaluma (CA), Piedra Vista (NM), Poland (ME), Riverwood (GA), San Benito (CA), Seminole County (GA), and Temple City (CA) posted drastic turnarounds just months after Dr. Cella served as their camp director.
Dr. Cella possesses four degrees with an A.S. in Education, a B.S. in English, a M.Ed in Information Technology, and a Psy.D in Psychology, Sport Performance Psychology. Both the American Football Sports Science-Mental Conditioning Academy and the Triple Option Football Academy are governed by AFSSMCA, LLC.
