Eight (8)-Man Triple Option Football: Triple Option versus 3-4-1

In eight (8)-man Triple Option Football, the Navy/Georgia Tech Triple Option is executed without the Receivers and one A-Back, who can run the Pitch route and/or Twirl into the Pitch route based on the numbers advantage.

In this post, Triple Option is executed versus a 3-4-1.

The Playside End has #3.  If #3 is in the middle of the field, he will veer and block Mike to #3.  If the Playside End blocks the Mike, the Playside Guard blocks #3.

Center and Backside Guard double the Action Key (first down lineman inside the Playside End) which is the 0-technique.

Backside End scoops the B-gap.

Backside A has the pitch.  If the defense aligned 4 1/2 defenders away from the A-Back, the Quarterback flips the play, and the A-Back twirls and run the pitch route to the left.

Quarterback cancels #1 and #2 by reading #1 and pitching #2.

B-Back runs his path through the Playside Guard.

The Triple Option in eight-man football is devastating because the defense simply runs out of people to make the tackle.
