Eight (8)-Man Triple Option Football: B-Back Toss versus 4-3-1 Defense

The B-Back Toss is utilized when Triple is run and the B-Back does not get four yards on the give.  When this happens, the defense is attempting to box the offense inside, and the offense must go outside.

In eight-man football, B-Back Toss is DEVASTATING because of the numbers and angles involved.

The A-Back and Guard have the alley while the Playside End veers outside of #1 and block the Playside Linebacker to the Free Safety.  Since the ball is pitched one yard outside the End, and the End veers outside of #1, #1 cannot make the tackle and does not need to be blocked.

The Center and Backside Scoop while the Quarterback tosses the ball one yard outside the End to the B-Back.

The B-Back must get his playside foot out of the ground at 90 degrees, run, and catch the ball one yard outside the End.  B-Back running the Toss should catch the Toss at five yards depth, so many B-Back might adjust their path to 110 degrees as compared to 90.
