10 Keys to Preparation: Triple Option Football

Triple Option Football Academy

1- PRACTICE V. MULTIPLE ALIGNMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS—QUARTERBACK MUST BE READY FOR EVERYTHING!

2- BE READY FOR ALL FRONTS—OKIE, ODD STACK, SPLIT—GOAL-LINE, STACKS, SPY-BACK, ETC.

3- PRACTICE GETTING IMMEDIATE FOOTWORK AND ANGLES WITH THE OFFENSIVE LINE TO ELIMINATE PENETRATION!

4- FAST PLAY THE QUARTERBACK AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE–#1 OR #2 WILL ALWAYS BE IN THE QB’S FACE DURING PRACTICE!

5- ASSIGN THE SCOUT TEAM PLAYERS TO DIVE/QUARTERBACK/PITCH IN EACH FRONT THEY ALIGN.

6- “RUN THROUGH” EACH DEFENSE TO EMPHASIZE POTENTIAL DEFENSIVE ASSIGNMENTS.

7- PREPARE FOR THE DEFENSE ASSIGNING #1 AND #2 TO A MAJOR THREAT, IF APPLICABLE.

8- WORK ON THROWING THE FOOTBALL V. ALL COVERAGES, BUT ESPECIALLY COVER 4, 3, AND 2.

9- PRACTICE V. CRASHING #1 AND FAST PLAY #2 MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.

10- PRACTICE V. SOME SLOW PLAYING #2.
