The Heavy formation is utilized in short-yardage and goal-line situations.
If the high school defense does not want to cover the Receiver who is aligned as the Backside Tackle, run Heavy Murg and score the touchdown.
Here is how Heavy Murg works:
Heavy Murg versus Odd Stack.
PR- Curl (16-14)
PA/OL- Slide to Protection
BR (BT)- Slide to for two steps, easiest release, run vertical.
BA- Run to back of the end zone.
Quarterback- Sprint steps, plant, and throw off corner (Progression is BR to BA to PR)
B- Sprint Path, block 1st threat outside of PA’s block
Utilize this when defenses don’t cover the ELIGIBLE Receiver aligned as a Backside Tackle in the Heavy Formation.
