Why Army, Navy, and Georgia Tech Run the Triple Option

Triple Option Football Academy

The Triple Option is Army, Navy, and Georgia Tech’s best chance for success because the Triple Option is the following:

1) A unique offense.

2) The Triple Option makes sure that defensive linemen stay off the ball carrier because the Quarterback reads Defensive Linemen instead of having the Offensive Line block these Defensive Linemen.

3) The opponent only gets three quality days to prepare for the Triple Option.

4) The Triple Option forces the opponent’s defense to play people in the running game instead of gaps, which eliminates overaggressiveness by the defense.

This offense develops an unselfish, team-first attitude as the ball can go to one of three people every play.  The defense must beat a block to get to the ball carrier as the other two unblocked defenders are cancelled by the Quarterback.
