Flexbone Redemption: Are You Desperate Enough to Win?

After 15 years in business, helping coaches win big with the Flexbone Triple Option and witnessing incredible transformations through the Triple Option Football Academy, I’ve learned an important lesson.
When a coach comes to me curious about the offense, but with endless doubts about the viability of the Flexbone Triple Option—whether it’s about our Academy and Camps, Army’s offense, Air Force’s offense, or simply staying under center—I tell them this:
Redemption is for the desperate.
You are not desperate. Come back when you are.
That’s the essence of what Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:1-5:
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”
Most coaches in 2025 aren’t ready for change. So I leave them alone. I don’t waste time on those unwilling to change the way they think and act about winning football games as a consistent underdog.
But if a coach is ready—truly ready—to change, through God’s grace, I go to endless lengths to help them.
If they insist on staying the same, I leave them to themselves, and watch them eventually get fired or resign citing “family reasons.“
ps- The Flexbone demands total commitment. Coaches who hesitate, cling to old habits, or constantly second-guess the system will never experience its true power. Flexbone redemption requires faith, discipline, and the willingness to embrace change.
