The Story Behind a Different Kind of Football Offense

Back in the 1990s, I was a young coach teaching kids how to block and how to secure the ball in the triple option offense.
By 2010 I was running three-day camps on actual high school fields. In 2013 we formalized it as the Triple Option Football Academy.
The goal has always been straightforward: give coaches and players a clear, repeatable system so they can install and run the under-center Flexbone triple option offense (the current Army/Air Force Flexbone core) the right way the first time.
What makes this offense different?
Most teams chase spread concepts or power schemes that require perfect athletes or massive lines. The under-center triple option does the opposite. It puts the quarterback under center, keeps the playbook small, and lets ordinary rosters—small schools, undersized lines, young quarterbacks—control the clock, stay physical, and make defenses wrong on every snap. It’s not flashy. It’s just extremely efficient. And when you pair it with simple mental-conditioning habits (the 80/20 rule I studied for my doctorate), the whole program levels up.

Just months after working with our camps or Academy:
• Tyrone (OK) went from 5-5 to Oklahoma Class C State Champions, scoring 668 points.
• Falls City (TX) won its first state title in school history.
• Oak Hall (FL), Fort Sumner (NM), and Scobey (MT) all won state championships the same weekend in 2025.
• Haverford (PA) jumped from 1-9 to 11-2 and won a league title.
• Questa (NM) won as many games in one season as the previous eight years combined.
• Dozens more programs—Pamlico County (NC), Bayfield (CO), Timmonsville (SC), Wyman King Academy (SC), and others—reached state finals, semifinals, or posted their first winning seasons in years.
